Kunqu Opera FDC from CHINA

On June 12, 2010, China National Philatelic Corporation issued a set of one first-day cover carrying a set of three special stamps, "Kunqu Opera", with a total face value of 3.60yuan. The names of the stamps are          
  1. "Washing the Silken Gauze" , 
  2. "The Peony Pavilion" and 
  3. "The Palace of Long Life"
Kunqu (; pinyin: Kūnqǔ; Wade-Giles: k'un-ch'ü), also known as Kunju, Kun opera or Kunqu Opera, is one of the oldest extant forms of Chinese opera. It evolved from the Kunshan melody, and dominated Chinese theatre from the 16th to the 18th centuries. Kunqu originated in the Wu cultural area.MORE DETAILS
